Story On True Friendship in English Summary

Deep inside the greenery of a forest, there lived three friends - a deer, a tortoise and a woodpecker. Their friendship was as thick as the forest as they were always seen being together, either casually talking or playing by the side of the lake. One day, a hunter ventured into the forest and laid out a deadly trap behind a bush that was near the lake. As the deer was returning from the lake, he unfortunately stepped on the trap and was caught by it, letting out a cry in pain. He cried out for his two friends - the woodpecker and the tortoise - and begged them to save him from the painful trap.

Hearing the deer’s helpless cries for help, the woodpecker and the tortoise rushed to the deer and were horrified at the scene before them. Calming down, they soon thought up a quick plan. The tortoise ran to a nearby mouse who resides in a hole close to the lake and requested his assistance in cutting open the trap and the mouse gladly accepted. Meanwhile, the woodpecker was on its way to the hunter’s camp. The hunter had heard the cries of the deer and was very eager to catch him as he left the camp.

Since it was the correct timing, the woodpecker quickly swooped down and began to peck at the hunter’s head. The bird pecked him so hard that the hunter began to cry out in pain and frustration. Getting fed up and badly hurt, the hunter went back to rest and clean his wounds in his camp. His job being over, the woodpecker flew back to the deer’s place. On reaching there, he was delighted to see his dear friend deer free as the hard work of the mouse and the tortoise paid off. They wholeheartedly promised to help each other if any of their friends were in trouble and continued to live their happy lives deep within the forest.
