Hanuman and Sanjeevani: The Ramayana Tale

This Hanuman Sanjeevani Story is a part of the beloved epic called Ramayana. It is the story where Laxmana was severely injured by Meghnad, the son of King Ravana. Laxmana was saved by the endeavours of Hanuman, the true disciple of Lord Rama. What did he do? How was Laxmana saved? Find out by reading this interesting story of Ramayana.

Laxmana was Injured by Meghnad

A long day of heavy battle between Meghnad and Laxmana did not end well. Meghnad was hiding behind the clouds and showing his overpowering skills in battle. No one was able to trace him but Laxmana succeeded.

Laxmana tracked Meghnad hiding behind one of the clouds. He was about to use his bow and arrow when Meghnad struck him with a deadly weapon called the Shakti Baan. Laxmana was hit and he fell unconscious.

Jambavan, the royal medic, came running. He found Laxmana in a bad condition. He said to Lord Rama, “Laxmana is not in a good shape. He needs to wake up immediately.”

Lord Rama was very worried and asked, “What can be done to wake up my beloved brother?”

Jambavan said, “There is only one way. I have heard that there is a mountain named Sanjeevi. It is in a treacherous area lying between Rishabha and Kailash mountain ranges. It is very hard to reach there and we do not have much time.”

The Mighty Hanuman

Lord Rama was worried. Seeing his lord worried, Hanuman stepped in and said, “Where is the exact location of this mountain?”

Everyone was surprised to hear what Hanuman said. What was he planning? Even the fastest monkeys will not be able to reach that mountain in time.

Jambavan was impressed and saw the confidence in Hanuman’s eyes. He told him the exact location and said, “There is only one mountain that grows Sanjeevani herbs. Bring the herbs.”

Hanuman understood and went to higher ground. He then increased his size. His humongous size scared the monkeys. He then stopped and made a huge jump and flew away. His flight made the monkeys fall from a gust of wind.

The Mighty Hanuman Carried a Mountain

He flew as fast as he could. He encountered a huge snake living deep in the sea and killed it. Eventually, he reached the location. There was only one peak that had blossoms and small plants.

Hanuman could not recognise the Sanjeevani herb. He started to wonder. Suddenly, an idea struck his mind. He multiplied his size even more and became similar to that peak. He thrust his hands underneath the peak and picked it up.

He jumped from the mountain ranges and flew back to the battleground. To everyone’s surprise, he landed with the peak in his hand. Jambavan said, “Hanuman brought the Sanjeevani!” He collected the herb and made the medicine.
