NEET UG 2023 is about to be conducted across the country. Every state follows the protocols set by the National Testing Agency (NTA) to conduct the entrance test. Once the test is done, every state has a regulatory body overseeing the counselling part. The NEET UG Counselling Maharashtra rounds will be conducted by the Directorate of Medical Education and Research (DMER).

Maharashtra NEET UG 2023 Counselling: An Introduction

The Directorate of Medical Education and Research (DMER), Government of Maharashtra, is the responsible body for conducting the counselling rounds for NEET aspirants. Based on the rounds, candidates will be chosen as per their merit, reservation categories, seat available and choices given by the candidates.

85% of the medical seats available for MBBS and BDS courses in the participating colleges in the state will be allocated by the Maharashtra NEET UG counselling process. It will be conducted in several rounds until all the vacant seats are filled with the desirable candidates. If any seat remains empty, it will be filled by the respective college authority.

The merit list of the NEET aspirants will be released after every round of counselling. Based on the results, aspirants will adjust and lock the college preferences in the official portal. There are 10,145 MBBS seats and 3526 BDS seats available for NEET UG 2023 aspirants.

Maharashtra NEET UG 2023 Counselling Process

Here are the steps followed by the aspirants to complete the counselling process.

Login Credentials

Aspirants will have to register an account in the DMER official portal. A user ID and password will be generated upon entering all the valid documents by following specific rules. You can use this login credential to enter your Maharashtra NEET UG 2023 application account and make changes for college preferences later.

College Codes

Once the registration is done, check the college codes on the list. All the medical colleges in the state will be participating in this elaborate counselling process. You can find the codes on the list and add them according to your suitability.

Remember, the college code will comprise a letter (either S or N) and four numbers. The letter S stands for state quota, and the letter N stands for NRI quota. Hence, choose the codes wisely and then list your colleges to input into your account. The authority will prefer this list during Maharashtra NEET state counselling stages.

Choice Submission

After carefully assessing your choices, input the college codes in the empty fields. Review the choices you have made once done before locking. Click on the Submit option. Students are also recommended to make as many choices as possible. Make sure you are doing it as per the decreasing order of preference.

Seat Allocation

The counselling authority will consider NEET score, state merit rank, eligibility, reservation, vacancy, etc, to allocate seats to deserving candidates. After every counselling, a merit list will be generated to help the aspirants to review their choices.

If you are satisfied with the seat allotted, download the admission letter and close your participation in the counselling process. If you are satisfied with the seat allotted but want to participate, download the admission letter too. If your choices get upgraded, the last allocated seats will be cancelled.
