About AIIMS 2019

Up until 2019, aspiring medical students had different medical exams to choose from depending on their choice of top medical colleges in India like AIIMS MBBS, DPMT, AIPMT, etc. As of now, after 2019, it was made mandatory for all the students wanting to pursue a career in medical science to appear for the NEET exam conducted by NTA. Most of the major Undergraduate and Postgraduate medical exams have been nullified and have been replaced by NEET as per the new guidelines and rules by MHRD, Government of India. The NEET exam is an annual exam held towards the end of the year in which over 5 to 10 lakh students compete for around 75,000 seats in both government and private colleges in the country- so the competition is tough but seats are only a few! Certain eligibility and qualification criteria needed to be fulfilled by the students like the average percentile in Physics, Chemistry and Biology, the age of the student from a set date, the nationality, etc., which have to be followed by the students to be eligible to appear for the qualifying exam.  Some of the criteria are as follows:

  • Students must have passed 10+2 or equivalent with the core subjects being Physics, Chemistry, Biology and English

  • Students must be 17 years or more as of December 31, 2019. Earlier the upper age limit criteria till 2018 were restricted but as per the latest guidelines released in 2019, the upper age limit is removed and yet to be decided upon.

  • The percentage of marks in each of the three main subjects (Physics, Chemistry and Biology) required for the eligibility for NEET-UG varies based on the caste category: i) General- 50%      ii) SC/ST/OBC- 40%      iii) PwD- 45%

  • Indian Nationals, Foreign Nationals and NRIs are also eligible to appear for NEET

FAQs on AIIMS 2019 Question Paper with Solutions - 25th May 2019 Morning Shift

1. Do all students appear for NEET UG/PG on the given date as per NTA?

NEET is conducted once at the end of every year by NTA. All aspiring medical students appearing for the exam must take up the exam for admissions into the top medical government and private colleges in India. Since over lakhs of students appear on the same date, it is very difficult for exam centers to accommodate them at the same time. Hence, there are two shifts of the exam- the morning shift and evening shift. The question paper of each of the shifts is different.

2. How should students prepare for NEET?

For NEET, students have to be very clear with their basics in Physics, Chemistry and Biology and hence should focus on the NEET syllabus which gets updated every year. The portions included in the paper are mainly questions from classes 11 and 12 which constitute nearly 60-70% of the paper. Students should prepare a timetable and mark the chapters and subjects which are their strengths and weaknesses with more concentration on the latter. Students should know which topics to prioritize instead of skipping them and also create short notes for revision. Most importantly, they should solve sample/mock papers and Previous Years’ question papers which are available in PDF format for free in Vedantu.

3. How important is Chemistry for NEET (AIIMS MBBS) 2019?

Following Biology, Chemistry holds special importance in the NEET syllabus and is the most scoring part as well. The Chemistry syllabus mostly revolves around three sections as per the syllabus- Physical, Organic and Inorganic Chemistry. The NEET Chemistry comprises 45 questions out of 180 questions which accounts for 180 marks out of a total of 720. Students can download the AIIMS 2019 Question Paper with Solutions (25 May 2019 Morning Shift) from the Vedantu website in PDF format for free.

Often students find Biology a tricky subject due to the syllabus but if a student has good clarity of the topics mentioned in the syllabus, they can easily crack the exam with a good score since maximum marks can be scored here. Before students begin to strategize studying Biology, they need to know the weightage of each chapter in the paper, both in Zoology and Botany. CBSE Class 11 and 12 Biology are extremely important books to be read and revised thoroughly to clear the basics ahead of the exam.

5. What is the syllabus of Physics in NEET(AIIMS MBBS)?

Physics is one of the three important subjects mentioned in the NEET syllabus released by NTA. Because it is the most challenging subject of the lot, there are many theoretical topics with numerical which have to be understood and practiced well for NEET. A total of 50 questions are included and students have to attempt any 45 (180 marks) to clear the section. The syllabus of Physics includes all chapters in the NCERTs class 11 and 12 as well as other topics mentioned in the syllabus. For more details on the Physics syllabus for NEET, follow Vedantu.
