One day, she was looking at her destroyed plants. She said, “What did I do to the animals? They come and destroy my flowers and vegetables? How can I stop them?” While going through her harvest, she saw the remaining spinach plants moving. She was intrigued and found a skunk sitting beside the spinach plants. He was not eating the plants and looked sad.

She was surprised to see a sad skunk in her garden. He did not even want to escape seeing the old lady. She asked, “What happened to you? Why are you crying?”

The skunk said, “I am unhappy. All the animals make fun of my smell. I know I use it for a purpose. What can I do if I smell like this? I don’t have friends either.” The lady took pity on that skunk and asked him to come with her inside the house.

The Lady’s Genius Idea

She brought him in and said, “Listen to me carefully. You are naturally made like this. Don’t be sorry for those silly fools. They will not understand you.” She added, “Let me see what I can do.” She took her piano out in the garden. The skunk followed. She started to sing a song while playing the piano and attracted all the animals outside her garden.


Every animal was stunned to see the skunk with her. She sang and said, “Now, we will plant more trees. Flowers and vegetables will bloom again in my garden.” The skunk handed her the shovel in surprise. She took the shovel and started sowing seeds. The skunk helped her with the seeds and patted the ground. She then said, “Little skunk. Show your magic and spray your scent in the boundary of my garden.”

The skunk understood the old lady’s plan. He sprayed his scent with happiness. It made the animals go away. He knew that he had found a permanent home with the sweet lady. She does not have a problem with his scent. He helped the lady to get rid of the animals and the lady fed him vegetables and fruits every day.
