The Little Fir Tree

The Story

Once a magician was returning home and all of a sudden, it began to rain heavily. So, he looked for shelter and saw a little fir tree nearby. He ran there for shelter. Soon it stopped raining. The magician said to the tree, "Thank you! You have been very kind to me. So, I would like to give you something. Tell me any of your four wishes, and I will fulfil them", said the magician. The little fir tree became unhappy because it had needle-like leaves; no birds ever made their nests on it. The little fir tree wanted green leaves. The next morning, its wish was granted. Soon a goat came alongside and ate all of the green leaves. Then, the tree wanted to have gold leaves. The next morning, when the little fir tree woke up, it was surprised to see the gold leaves. But a man came and stole all of its golden leaves.

Next the tree wanted to have glass leaves, the same way it was granted. The tree became happy as no goat could consume it or no person could steal it. But at night time, the wind blew and glass leaves broke. So, the tree desired for its needle-like leaves back, so the tree went to sleep. When it woke up the next morning, it had all its needle-like leaves back again. The little fir tree became happy.

From the above text, we can conclude that we should be happy with what we have.
