The selfish man in the story

The selfish man in the story

In a village, there lived a very greedy and selfish man. All he thought about was money and how to trick others. He was a cunning man who often tricked others for his own gain. One day, as the man was coming home, he lost thirty gold coins in the market. This was a huge loss for him so the man was very worried.

He didn’t know what to do so that he could gain his thirty gold coins back. Depressed, he went to his friend’s house and told him the story about the thirty gold coins. His friend was a kind-hearted and honest person. He always wanted to help others and so he felt bad for his friend.

The Selfish Man Gets His Coins Back

As the selfish man was telling the story to his friend, the friend’s daughter entered the house. She told her father that in the market, she found thirty gold coins. Since the man was honest, he knew that these gold coins were his friend’s so he decided to give them back to him.

The selfish man got his coins back but a cunning thought came to his head. He thought of tricking his friend and getting more money. He counted the coins and said that there were 10 coins short. He lost forty coins and he blamed his daughter for stealing the coins. The selfish man told his friend to return those gold coins as well but the friend refused.

The Matter Reaches the King

The selfish man warned his friend that he would take the matter to the king’s court. The friend had nothing to fear so he agreed. So, everyone went to the court of the king and awaited his decision. The king was very wise and thought of ending the argument once and for all.

He asked the selfish man, “How many coins did you lose?” The man said forty. So, the king replied, “Since you lost forty coins in total, these coins cannot be yours since there are only thirty. So, I give these coins to the daughter of the man who found them. When we find someone who got forty coins in the market, we will send them to you and you can have your gold coins then.”

The Selfish Man Learns a Lesson

Now, the selfish man was trapped in his own statement. He realised that he would lose thirty coins. That is when he confessed that he had actually lost thirty coins. He told the king about his plan to trick his friend. However, the king had heard enough. As a punishment, he ordered the selfish man to give his thirty gold coins to the daughter. In the end, the selfish man suffered the consequences of his own tricks. He was left with no money and no one ever trusted him because of his greedy and dishonest nature.
