He would eat everyone’s food even if they were present. The hippo did not leave a morsel for the rest of the animals to eat. Whenever he got a chance, he ate everyone’s food and wallowed in his pool.

One day, the animals prepared their favourite food and were getting ready to eat. Suddenly, the hippo jumped into the pool. There was a big splash and he was stuck in it.

The hippo tried to come out on his own but all tries went in vain. Seeing him stuck, the animals decided to help him.

The Result of the Help

In these Hippopotamus Stories, the animals jumped in to help. They made a chain to pull the heavy hippo out of the pool. After trying for hours, they managed to bring him outside the pool.

The hippo was happy to be out. Finding himself free, he jumped and ate the breakfast prepared by all the animals.

The animals had it enough. They thought that the hippo had tricked them to eat their breakfast. They did not want to tolerate this misbehaviour anymore. They decided to teach the hippo a lesson.

The Lesson

The animals talked with the cook. They told him to cook a pie with soap and fish. It would teach the hippo a good lesson.

The pie was done. The animals took the pie to the hippo. He was enjoying the pool.

The fox said, “Here is a delicious pie we made for you. It has fish in it. You will like it.” The rabbit said, “The pie smells delicious. You must try it now!”

The hippo felt the urge to eat the pie. He jumped out of the pool and gobbled the entire pie and jumped back into the pool.

Suddenly, he felt something funny in his stomach. He said, “I don’t feel right. What was in the pie?” The animals laughed and said, “It has the lesson we want to teach you for being such a greedy friend.”

The hippo hiccupped. The soap in the pie created bubbles. The more he hiccupped; the more soap bubbles came out of his mouth. He understood what and why the animals have done this to him.

He fled from the jungle with soap bubbles coming out of his mouth. The animals laughed harder. The hippo never returned to that jungle again.
