Grasp All Lose All Story Summary

A long time ago, there lived a poor farmer in the village. While he lacked a source of income of his own, he owned a goose. Since the farmer was so poor, he was constantly trying to find a way to alter the outcome of the day. Unfortunately, he was not able to find a reliable source of income. He relied solely on this goose to earn his living. It used to lay eggs on a regular basis, and the farmer sold the eggs and spent his days in some way.

The farmer was extremely greedy. He believed that the goose's stomach was full of eggs. As a result of selling those eggs, the farmer made a considerable profit. By selling the golden eggs, the farmer became richer and richer, which made him more greedy.

One day, while the farmer and his wife were talking, she said: “If we could get all the eggs that are inside the goose we could be richer faster.”

“You are right,” said the farmer, “we wouldn’t have to wait for the goose to lay her egg every day.” As a result, the couple decided to cut open the goose in order to obtain the gold mine within it all at once.

Attempting to satisfy his greed, the farmer cut open the goose's belly, but found that there was no egg inside. The man began to cry out of anger and grief. Having lost the valuable goose, he became extremely disappointed.

In fact, he became poorer rather than richer. Due to this incident, the farmer realized that excessive greed for quick money had led to his misfortune. He accepted responsibility for his misfortune. As a result, he was unable to compensate for his loss.
