Complete answer: The Vikramshila Mahavihara was the renowned educational centre of the Pallava period at the site of Antichak village of the Bhagalpur district, Bihar. It was established by Pala emperor Dharmapala to maintain the quality of education in Nalanda as it was declining. It was believed that Muhammad Bin Baktiyar Khalji destroyed it around 1193. The evidence of this educational centre is known to us by Tibetan sources. The remains of Vikramshila university are partially excavated and still under process. Initially, B.P Sinha and Archaeological Survey of India (ASI) excavated this site and revealed that it has a huge square monastery with a stupa in its centre.
