Hint: When the equation given is linear i.e. the maximum power is one, then the equation is known as linear equation. Here the given equation is in between\[x\,and\,y\]. So you have to find some coordinates for sketching the graph, for any linear graph at least two coordinates are needed.
Complete step-by-step answer:
For the given equation \[2x + y = 5\]
For any value of \[y\] we have to get value of \[x\,\]
Then, values of \[y\] will be let say \[(0\,and\,1)\]
Now for these value of \[y\]
We get value of “x” as:
\[
for\,,\,y = (0\,and\,1),\,we\,get \\
x = \dfrac{{5 - 0}}{2},\,\dfrac{{5 - 1}}{2} \\
x = \dfrac{5}{2},\,\dfrac{4}{2} \\
x = (2.5,\,2) \;
\]
Now coordinates for graph becomes, \[(x,y) = (2.5,0),\,(2,1)\]
Now we have to plot the points on graph and simply just stretch the line in between the points and after the points:
Graph for “x” and “y” axis:
Above graph is the required linear graph of equation \[2x + y = 5\]
Note: You have to be careful while finding the coordinates, it is a simple step just to assume any real value of any one coordinate and with the help of a given equation find the value of another coordinate, when you get both the coordinates it's over. In a linear graph you have to find any two coordinates of the respective axis. . In such a question the assumption of one coordinate is up to you so its recommended to always take a point as \[0\]. You can also satisfy these points in the equation to check if the points are correct or not.
