The diversity of a region is influenced by Geographical and historical factors. This can be understood by taking the example of Ladakh and Kerala.
While Ladakh (east of Jammu and Kashmir) and Kerala (southwest of India) are quite different in terms of their geographical areas and features, the history that both the regions have has seen similar cultural influences. Both regions were influenced by Arab and Chinese traders. The geography of Kerala was the reason which allowed for the cultivation of spices and the special geographical location of Ladakh was the reason behind traders being drawn to these regions for their wool. Thus geography and history are often tied to the cultural life of a region. The effect of diverse cultures is not merely a thing of the past. Our present lives are all about moving from place to place for work and with each move, our way of life and cultural traditions slowly become part of the new place we are in. Similarly, we live close to people from several communities in our own neighbourhoods. Our daily lives are about the ways in which we do things together and hear stories about each other's lives, traditions, and customs.
