Ans: All the animals were assigned different tasks. Since the dog carried sticks around in his mouth, he was assigned the task of fetching them. The ox had a yoke hanging from his neck and was assigned the task of ploughing.

He, to this day, is unable to complete the pending work of the missed three days and as a result, carries the hump, according to the writer.
