Let’s Make Computers Fun

Computers are everywhere. Right from our homes to every industry. But, what comes to your mind when you think about a computer? Most likely, you consider all of your interactions with it.

You can play games, watch videos, download images for school projects, download movies, and use search engines to quickly fetch the information you need. It can also assist you with your schoolwork. So, let us gather a lot of useful and fun information about computers here.

History of Computers

All of the components that are used in a modern computer today were created by Charles Babbage between 1833 and 1871. Despite being the very first computer ever created, it doesn't exactly resemble what most people today would consider a computer.

However, the first modern computers weren't created until 120 years later. In 1936, Konrad Zuse created the first computer ever, which he called the Z1. He developed the Z2 in 1939, the first electro-mechanical computer ever made.

In the 1940s, the first computers were created. They were huge and consumed a lot of electricity.

Can you picture yourself using a computer that takes up a huge room? You couldn't sit in front of that, how could you? The production of computers as we know them now only began in 1980 and made computers fun to use.

The first one-gigabyte disk drive was made available to the public in 1980. It cost a staggering $ 40,000 and weighed 550 pounds (almost 227kg). How did they move it, exactly?

Parts of a Computer

  1. CPU - The CPU is the brain of the computer. All the calculations and processes are done by this part of the Computer. It communicates with all other parts of the computer.

  2. Monitor - It is the display on which we see all that is happening on the computer.

  3. Keyboard - The keyboard is used as an input device. We give instructions to the CPU through the keyboard.

  4. Mouse - The mouse is a pointing device. It is also an input device, just like the keyboard.

  5. Speakers - The Speakers are an output device since they function to give our sounds playing on the computer.

  6. Printer - The printer is used to print images and documents on paper. They are also output devices, just like speakers.

FAQs on Computer Facts

1. What are the input and output devices in a computer?

The input device in a computer is that device that can be used to give information to the computer to do a certain task. For example, the keyboard is used to type on the computer, the mouse is used to select things on the computer, and the scanner is used to input images into the computer. Output devices are those which show us the information processed by the CPU. For example, the Monitor displays things going on on the computer, the printer prints the files on paper, and speakers give out sounds generated by the computer.

2. How many types of computers are there?

There are three types of computers: general-purpose computers are the ones used by all the people and this is what we think of when we talk about computers, special-purpose computers are those computers which are embedded in other devices like watches, TVs, Cars, Microwaves, and other electronics, specialized computers are computers which are designed to do a specific task only, for example, a gaming console which is used only to play games.
