JEE Mains is a screening test qualifying which candidates can appear in the JEE Advanced examination. Of about 2,50,000 candidates qualifying JEE Mains appear in JEE Advanced, and there is roughly a month’s gap between the two examinations. Even though, both the examinations have a standard level of difficulty, yet, to qualify JEE Advanced you need to go the extra mile for enhancing your problem-solving skills. The one month’s time that you get after JEE Mains should be utilized to the fullest extent to prepare for JEE Advanced. Here’s a to-do list for the time before JEE Advanced.


Brush Up The Extra Topics in JEE Advanced Syllabus

The syllabus of JEE Advanced is a little different than that of JEE Mains, hence the first thing you begin your preparation with is listing down the extra topics. The basic concepts of 10+2 level Physics, Chemistry, and Mathematics and your analytical skills will be assessed in the JEE Advanced examination. 

For example, Kirchoff’s Laws, Stefan’s Law, Blackbody radiation, vectors, calculus, are few of the important topics for JEE Advanced. Try to brush up all these concepts within half the time gap that you get between JEE Mains and JEE Advanced. Plan your study routine for the first week after JEE Mains with tight deadlines to cover these topics. This will eventually prevent building up of stress as the examination date draws near.  


Improve Your Problem-Solving Pace and Accuracy 

When it is said that JEE Advanced is more difficult than JEE Mains, it is implied that you need to have a faster problem-solving pace to crack JEE Advanced. In other words, you must take lesser time for numerical calculations and spend more time analyzing the difficult questions properly, in JEE Advanced. A good problem-solving pace can be achieved only you practice rigorously on a daily basis.

Become Familiar With The Exam Pattern of JEE Advanced

The exam pattern of the JEE Advanced examination is slightly different than that of JEE Mains. During the gap between JEE Mains and JEE Advanced, you have to properly understand the exam pattern of JEE Advanced in detail. The previous years’ question papers will be of great help for this purpose. There are two papers in JEE Advanced, each of a duration of 3 hours. The first paper consists of multiple-choice questions whereas the second paper consists of numerical answer type questions.
