With only 3 days left for JEE Main 2022 session 2, exam stress may be at its peak among some candidates. To do well in the exam, it is important for candidates to manage this exam stress and stay focussed and confident. While studying for long hours, often their sleep cycles get disturbed, and some candidates even skip their meals. On the other hand, some are capable to manage the situation and keep themselves calm and composed before the exam. 


Here’s a list of last-minute tips that will definitely help you prepare mentally for JEE Main 2022 in the last three days and manage the stress effectively.

Forget About Expectations

Always remember that the exam you are about to take is for yourself. Not for your family members, not for your teachers, not for your friends, and not for anyone else. So, it should be clear that whatever the outcome, the opinions of others should not affect you in any way. JEE Main 2022 is one of the ways to reach your desired career path but not the only option. There might be a situation where people start judging you on your capabilities, but this is not the end. This is just one of the points in your career path, which can be reclaimed again or can be skipped with other suitable options.

Identify Stress

It is often observed that many students fail to recognize that they are stuck with stress. You must assess yourself on various parameters to handle the stress level before the exam accordingly. Notice what makes you nervous and talk to your seniors and mentors to deal with it. Identify what triggers your stress level, whether it is constant peer pressure or someone constantly judging you on your moves. Is it the social media pages that remind you that your preparation is not enough or someone that never fails to criticize your weaknesses instead of helping to overcome them? All such factors should be tapped and addressed properly. If you are not able to find a solution by yourself, speak it out, it is not wise to keep it to yourself and let the impact be seen on your performance. 

Some common symptoms you should not ignore are: 

  • Behavioral Symptoms- If you notice yourself distracted most of the time, you often start biting your nails, excess craving for junk food, or any other stimulants, then any of these symptoms are alarming signs. Engaging yourself in any of the above activities is a significant risk to your overall mental state, and one may keep a regular check for all such activities.

  • Mental Symptoms- Random thoughts that are not related to your revision or study plans feeling uncomfortable imagining yourself in the exam hall, feeling fearful or helpless; all these symptoms should be discussed with your mentor for a viable solution.

  • Physical Symptoms- This includes sudden heartbeat change, cramps in the stomach, nausea, diarrhea, dry mouth, sweaty palms, stiff neck, stiff muscles, and difficulty in sleeping. For all such symptoms, you may consult your physician and address them accordingly. 


Pause

After identifying your stress, the first thing you need to do is take a pause. Take a break from whatever you are doing, get up, and take a walk outside. Take fresh air, listen to your favorite music, or sing whatever makes you comfortable. Reset yourself and start with sheer focus on what you have planned for your JEE Main preparation.

Meditation

Meditation is one of the significant ways to keep your mind calm and stress in check. Some of the breathing exercises are also helpful in case you are feeling restless or anxious. Watch motivational videos and practice meditation. Different apps also give you a basic understanding of meditation and how you can do it yourself.

Balanced Diet

By skipping a meal, you may save 20 minutes, but it may affect badly on your health. It might increase your stress level. One should ensure that in such crucial times, a proper diet plan is followed. Start your day with breakfast, followed by light lunch and dinner. Avoid food items that make you sleepy. Make sure you are getting proper vitamins and minerals from your diet constituents.

Stick To Your TimeTable

If you do things randomly, then it may impact your confidence level as without a proper plan, you may lose control of your time and attention to important things. Create a checklist of the topics you want to revise, set a particular time, create a dedicated slot for solving question papers, and never take your mock test on the bed or a couch. You should give yourself a proper exam hall vibe while solving your JEE Main previous year question papers and taking JEE Main mock tests.

Focus On Your Strengths

Many candidates worry a lot about the topics that they don’t know instead of strengthening the topics they are good at. This is one of the common mistakes that many candidates make. With just three days left in JEE Main 2022 Session 2, preparing any new topic may be difficult. So, it would be wise to prepare the topics that you are good at so that you may not lose out on scoring in those topics on the final day. 


Believe In Yourself

Before anybody else believes in you, you must believe in yourself. If you constantly doubt yourself, managing the exam stress will be very difficult. Remind yourself of your strengths and indulge in activities that boost your confidence. That could be anything, like revising common formulas, solving numericals of the topics you are comfortable with, clearing your doubts with your teachers, and reading motivational stories. Any other activity related to your JEE Main preparation that keeps you in strong mental shape can be adopted in these last three days.

Don’t Compare

If your friend is behind you, it will not help improve your performance. Similarly, if you are behind your friend, it will not impact your performance. The only thing that will help you is your preparation for the JEE Main 2022 exam day. So, don’t compare what others have completed or are about to. Just focus on your preparation and relax.

Slot For Enjoyment

Yes, you read it right. Taking at least 30-45 minutes for your favourite show or music can help reduce your stress. Just ensure you are not exceeding this limit. While watching or listening, just ensure you are not thinking about the exam, as it will negate the whole purpose of relaxation.
