The coronavirus disease has evidently affected Indians from all walks of life, be it professionals or students. This global pandemic has already claimed more than 18,000 lives all over the world. In addition, the cause of concern among most people is that there have been more than 423,800 positive coronavirus infection cases.

In India alone, around 565 people across the length and breadth of this country have been infected with this fatal contagion. As per the latest coronavirus update, the possibility of an effective coronavirus vaccine is still afar.

Therefore, the Government of India (GOI) has initiated a complete lockdown in 32 states and Union Territories (UTs). Besides that, schools, colleges, universities and other centres for mass gatherings have been entirely shut down for the time being. As a result, several central and state exams have been postponed indefinitely.

On top of that, the Joint Entrance Examination (JEE) has also been postponed, with no announcement of fresh dates yet. Previously, the National Testing Agency (NTA) scheduled JEE between 5th and 11th April 2020. However, as per their latest notification, tentative dates are likely to be declared on 31st March 2020. Thus, the coronavirus disease has had a certain negative impact on the morale of JEE aspirants.

Impacts of Coronavirus on JEE Aspirants

Due to the complete lockdown being observed in the country, individuals are finding themselves self-quarantined or isolated from society. With this unfortunate restriction on movement owing to the coronavirus disease, students have been affected the most. On top of that, this time of the year is traditionally designated for national exams and their preparations.

Consequently, this sudden and unexpected disruption in the daily routine is bound to have a negative impact on the mindset of JEE aspirants. Due to the confusion surrounding the final dates of a competitive exam such as IIT JEE, students are bound to be tensed and apprehensive in their attitude.

Besides, the sudden outbreak of this global pandemic has adversely affected the pattern of JEE Main and JEE Advanced preparation. Previously, students used to approach coaching institutions or tutoring centre for assistance regarding the vast syllabus for JEE preparation. Yet due to the unfortunate complete lockdown, students cannot access these institutions with their doubts regarding preparation.

As a result, scores of students are wondering where to get their doubts and questions cleared. This lack of interaction between a JEE aspirant and an experienced teacher has rattled the mindset of such students. Therefore, they actively run the risk of falling behind in their preparations and losing an academic year. This concern is widely prevailing among parents as well. Consequently, a vast number of parents are considering alternative options to strengthen their kids’ JEE preparation amid the coronavirus disease scare.

How to keep JEE aspirants Safe during Coronavirus Disease?

Help comes in several forms. On the one hand, it can be ensuring the academic future of one’s child. On the other hand, it can be paying special attention to the aspirant’s health. Due to the constant panic caused by the Covid-19 outbreak, experts are suggesting a few preventive measures.

Additionally, it is quite easy to follow and turn those into a routine. However, concerned parents, as well as students, should keep in mind the following things during the coronavirus infection –

  1. Proper Handwash Routine

Parents can ensure that their children, also JEE aspirants, observe a healthy handwash routine. For instance, aspirants should use alcohol-based hand sanitizer to decontaminate their hands in these events –

  • Before and after meals.

  • After coughing or sneezing.

  • After using the washroom.

Also, students should avoid touching their faces as much as possible. Thus, this ensures that an aspirant’s hands are not contaminated with the Covid-19 virus, SARS-CoV 2.

  1. Stay at Home

According to medical experts, it is best to stay at home during the coronavirus outbreak. Therefore, students should actively maintain ‘social distancing’. Throughout the lockdown period, it is likely that an aspirant will feel demotivated.

However, there is no other option than staying at home now.

Due to that, parents are aware of the fact that their children’s JEE preparations will be affected. On top of that, the lack of coaching centres and private tutors will certainly hamper the preparation strategy of a student.

  1. Keep the Surroundings Clean

Parents should make sure that students aspiring to crack JEE are living in a clean environment. Therefore, it becomes necessary to decontaminate surfaces which are used daily. Individuals should put on gloves and wipe surfaces such as tabletops, chairs, tables, desks. Also, individuals should use disinfectants while cleaning.

On top of that, parents should take extra care to prevent respiratory diseases. Therefore, students should use authentic facemasks in case somebody around has flu. These basic preventive measures will help JEE aspirants stay healthy during the dark times of coronavirus disease.

How can Students Prepare for JEE Mains 2020 from Home?

As the NTA is likely to announce fresh dates on 31st March, there is hope for students. First of all, knowing JEE dates would help students formulate a proper strategy. Due to the lack of assistance from teachers, several students have limited options for JEE Mains 2020 preparation.

However, students can follow the strategies given below to crack JEE by studying at home –

  • Create a Study Routine

Measure your SWOT – strength, weaknesses, opportunities, and threats. Prepare a study plan and distribute your time between revision and studying. Also, an effective study routine should involve solving model papers and JEE question papers from previous years. Additionally, take notes of fundamental points while trying to understand a complex concept.

A study routine is very useful for an individual aiming to crack JEE Mains 2020.

  • Follow the Syllabus

As JEE might be sooner than expected, aspirants can benefit by following the syllabus to understand the basic scope, question patterns, and weightage of different topics and chapters in the exam. Therefore, to strengthen a student’s JEE preparation, following the syllabus is very helpful.
