The Wizard of Oz

The Wizard of Oz

Dorothy and her little dog Toto lived in a small village in Kansas. She adorned Toto very much, and they would play with each other all the time.

One day there was a horrible cyclone. “We must reach the basemen soon, Toto!” cried Dorothy. But it was too late. The powerful blowing wind lifted her farmhouse into the air and took Dorothy and Toto to the remote land of Oz.

Now, let us proceed with the complete Wizard of Oz story to understand what happened after Dorothy and Toto landed in the remote land of Oz.

Story of the Wonderful Wizard of Oz

After they were both uplifted by the tornado, the house landed at a mysterious place in Oz, and Dorothy and Toto moved out of the house and looked around. They had landed on top of the evil witch of the East, killing her. Upon realising, Dorothy exclaimed, “Oh my, Toto! The house fell on someone! I didn’t mean to hurt anyone.”

A happy group of tiny people came near Dorothy and thanked her by explaining that they are the Munchkins. They were grateful to Dorothy because she had killed the wicked witch of the East and freed the Munchkins from the witch’s wicked spell forever.

Suddenly, one more witch appeared, however, this was the very good witch of the North. She said: “Dorothy, you were very brave to free the Munchkins. If there is any help I can provide, just ask.”

“Can you tell me a path to go back to Kansas?” asked Dorothy.

Witch of the North said: “Sorry, I cannot! However, the Wizard of Oz can help you with that. But yes, you can take these magic silver shoes of the Wicked Witch of the East because these may be of use later on. Now, follow the Yellow Brick Road all the way to the Emerald City; this path will lead you to the Wizard of Oz.

On the road, Dorothy met a speaking scarecrow, which said, “My head is full of straw, and people believe that I’m a fool,” and “I’d provide the whole lot to have a mind.”

“I’ll bet the Wizard of Oz ought to provide you with one,” stated Dorothy. ‘I’m on a path to see him right this moment. Why don’t you join us on our journey?”

Further down the Yellow Brick Road, Dorothy, her dog, and the speaking scarecrow observed a Tin Woodman who was rusted stiff. After Dorothy oiled his corroded joints, the Tin Woodman was able to move freely. “Ah, thank you, little girl. I feel good as new - despite the fact that I nevertheless have no heart. When the tinman made me, he forgot to give me one.”

“It sounds like you want to see the Wizard of Oz, too!” cried Dorothy. “Come along with us!”

As they travelled through the forest, a massive Lion jumped at Toto and roared. “Don’t you dare bite Toto!’’ shouted Dorothy.

The Lion blinked a tear and then hung his head in a feeling of shame. Dorothy was shocked. “Why, you’re almost nothing but a massive coward!”

“I know,” sniffed the Lion. “I’d like to have some courage.”

“The Wizard of Oz is going to give Scarecrow a brain and me a heart,” stated the Tin Woodman. “Maybe he can assist you, too!”

Thus, the Lion joined Dorothy, Toto, Scarecrow, and the Tin Woodman. Soon the Yellow Brick Road helped them to reach Emerald City. The tiny group nervously entered the large Throne Room and approached the Wizard od Oz.

He listened to their requests after which answered, “I even have heard that you killed the Wicked Witch of the East. If you may free us of her sister, the Evil Witch of the West, then I will fulfil all of your wishes. Now go!”

But the depraved witch was determined to kill Dorothy and her friends. She despatched several starving wolves to consume them. “This is my fight!” stated the Tin Woodman. He swung his awl fiercely. The scared wolves turned and ran.

A screeching black cloud of untamed birds darkened the sky. “Crows!” yelled the Scarecrow, “This is my speciality!” He waved his fingers excitedly. “Boo! Go away! Shoo!”

“You stored us, Scarecrow,” sighed Dorothy. “Thank you.”

The Witch was furious! She despatched her winged monkeys to seize the little group. Chattering monkeys swooped down, grabbed the travellers, and flew back to the Evil Witch’s castle.

“So, you and your pals were going to ruin me, eh?” said the Wicked Witch of the West to Dorothy. “Well, I’ve turned the tables on all of you! The Tin Woodman is battered and twisted on a pile of razor-sharp rocks. The Scarecrow is absolutely unstuffed. I’ve captured your cowardly Lion in a heavy cart.”

“And as for you, my dear. You and your annoying dog will spend the rest of your life working right here in my castle!”

“You are very evil!” cried Dorothy, and with that, she threw a bucket of water over the Witch.

“Oh, no!” cried the evil witch. “Water will make me shrink and dissolve! Oh, I’m shrinking— melting-melting…” Within moments the Evil Witch of West turned into nothing greater than a puddle on the floor.

The Witch’s slaves were now free. To display their appreciation, they patched up the Tin Woodman, crammed the Scarecrow with new straw, and released the Lion. Shortly Dorothy and her pals were back on their journey to Emerald City.

The Wizard of Oz was pleased to see them. “You have done what I expected. You will be rewarded.” So, the Scarecrow obtained his brain, the Tin Woodman his coronary heart, and the lion his courage.

“How will I get back to Kansas?” asked Dorothy.

The Wizard smiled. “You’ve had the power all along. Your magic silver shoes will take you everywhere you command!”

Dorothy lamentably turned to her pals. “I might be going back home, however, I shall miss you all very much.” She kissed them all farewell. Then with the assistance of her magic footwear, Dorothy and Toto travelled back to their home in Kansas.

So, this was the Wizard of Oz story which reminds us to never give up and never stop dreaming. You will definitely get your way out.
