There was once a very lazy squirrel. His name was Dale and all he used to do was eat and sleep all day. While all the other squirrels would look for food, Dale would stay in his hole and sleep all day. When he was hungry, he would just steal food from the other squirrels. So, Dale had a reputation for being a thief in the forest. Very soon, the winter season started to set. It is easy to find food in the summertime but equally difficult to do so in the winter season for sure. However, that didn’t bother Dale because he just wanted to rest.

The Winter Season Arrives in the Forest 

Pretty soon, it was the winter season and Dale realized that he had no nuts in his home. So, again, he decided to steal them from someone. Fortunately, his neighbour was Chikky the squirrel. Unlike Dale, Chikky was very hardworking and used all the time in the summer to collect nuts so that she could easily pass the winter in comfort. So, Dale decided that he would steal the nuts from Chikky. One day when Chikky went ice skating, Dale sneaked into her home and stole three nuts. Then he ate those nuts and then slept the whole day. The next day as Chikky was sleeping, he went to her house and stole two other nuts.

It was very soon that Chikky started to notice that her nuts were decreasing in number. So, she decided to nab the culprit and see for herself who was stealing her nuts. She had a wonderful idea to catch the thief. She took two nuts and then applied some glue to them. Then she pretended to be asleep.

Dale Gets Taught a Lesson

When Dale came to her home to steal more nuts, he took the ones that had glue in them. He quickly ran to his home but he noticed that there was something wrong with the nuts. He said, “My fingers are stuck!! What will I do now?”. Till then all the other squirrels and Chikky had surrounded Dale. Finally, the thief had been caught. Dale was more than ashamed of his actions. He bowed his head down and asked for forgiveness but all the other squirrels were tired of his antics. They disowned him and he was all alone.
