The Carpenter's Wife Story in English

There was a young carpenter who had just married a beautiful woman. One day, he learned that his wife was having an affair in his absence. He was warned by the people of the village. It made him think and doubt her character. He decided to test her wife’s loyalty.

One day, he told his wife that he is going to work for a wealthy man in his house for a few days.

Her wife was very supportive. She cooked his favourite dishes and packed food for the long journey. The carpenter left. He went out of her sight and quickly climbed a tree to watch his house.

The carpenter heard everything. Before her wife reached the house, he used the window of his house to enter. He then hid under the bed and waited. He wanted them to catch red-handed.

The Outcome of Blind Trust

It was night. The lover appeared at the door. She was happy to see her lover and let him enter. The carpenter was watching from underneath the bed.

She and her lover sat on the bed. Suddenly, her feet struck something solid under the bed. She immediately knew something was wrong. She figured out that her husband was hiding under the bed.

The wife was in a real fix. She could not explain to the man what wasgoing on. When her lover wanted to touch her hand, she yelled, “I can’t do this. I am going to beat you if you touch me.”

She pretended to cry and said to his lover, “I went to the temple to pray for my husband’s long life. The priest made a prophecy that my husband would die within six months. I asked him what is the solution? How can I save my husband?”

She continued explaining, “The priest told me to bring another man today when my husband is not there. Death will think he is my husband and will take him away. My husband will live.”

When she was explaining, her husband was listening. He came out and hugged her wife for her loyalty and sacrifice. He was so happy to have a loyal wife.
