The Bright Sun Brings It to Light Story

The story begins with an apprentice of a tailor who moves around the world in search of work. He was poor and did not have any money to survive. When he failed to find any work, he resorted to unethical practices. So one day he ran into a Jew, assumed that the Jew was wealthy, and threatened to hand over his belongings if he did not want to get killed. The Jew told the tailor that he had no money except eight farthings.

The tailor refused to believe the man and beat him violently until he died. Before the man breathed his last, he said to the tailor, “The bright sun will bring it to light.” Later, he dragged the cold body and searched the clothes for money. He found the same eight farthings and nothing more from the dead man’s clothes.

The tailor moved on and walked to a different place where he got work. He fell in love with the daughter of his master. Both got married later. They had two children together. Their marriage was extremely prosperous. One day, the wife’s parents died and left the house to their daughter and her husband, that was, the tailor. Content with his life, the tailor sat in his armchair with a cup of tea on a bright day. If day is bright, bright is sun, they say, and accurately so.

The tailor poured the tea on his saucer. Before he could take a sip, the bright sun shone on the tea in the saucer and created ripples of light. The reflection of the light projected on the walls nearby, and the tailor got reminded of the Jew.

He said, “Yes, the sun would love to bring it to light, but it cannot.” His wife overheard him and asked him what it was about. The tailor refused to tell her anything about it.

However, when his wife asked him affectionately about it, he told her about the Jew, the eight farthings, and his last words. The wife promised her husband that she would not tell anyone else about it. Yet, she spoke of it to her best friend, and in two days, the entire village learned about the tailor’s story of killing the Jew.

He was brought to trial, proven guilty, and condemned. At the end of the story, the Jew’s words did come true, and it was established that the “bright sun brings it to light.”

Moral of the Story

The moral of The Bright Sun Brings It to Light Story is: “Truth always prevails.”
