The Story Ben and Bob in English Summary

The story revolves around a young boy named Ben, who goes to his father and asks for a new cap. His dad said that he would buy him a new cap if he had been a good boy, but if he was not then the old cap would be more than enough for a boy who was not good. Ben truly was a good boy and so his father got him a brand-new cap. Out of excitement he started to run away from home and came across a hen sitting on her nest on an old log. He hastily chased away the hen, took one of the eggs and placed it on top of his cap. Then, a friend of Ben named Bob appeared and greeted him by patting him hard on the egg. The action caused the egg to shatter and break into pieces, while the contents oozed down the side of Ben’s face and drenched his clothes.

Ben did not care that he had chased away the poor mother hen so he and Bob decided to go to a place to see how the men mowed the hay. The hay lay exposed to the scorching sunlight and Bob went ahead and laid on it. Bob’s nose turned a shade of cherry pink due to the intensity of the sun's heat. A dog that was passing by probably mistook his nose as if it was something to eat and was about to bite it off but fortunately Bob jumped up and avoided it at the last minute. Ben and Bob went back to Ben’s place where he asked his mom for a big pie to eat and a huge mug of water with a little ice in it to drink since it was hot and dry and they were extremely hungry. They received fresh pie and water and both Ben and Bob bit their pies to make it look like a cat that had one leg and a dog that had one ear, respectively.

Bob’s father then spotted his demeanour and asked him what happened. Bob was immensely afraid to say the least and thought about lying but was hesitant about it. So, he finally made up his mind to say the truth and explained the events that took place from him chasing the mother hen away to eating pie. His father was overjoyed that his son did not lie to him and washed his new cap for him. Bob and Ben then proceeded to venture out of the house for another set of mischievous adventures. Ben is happy and joyful since he did not lie to his parents and was a good boy. If you stay good, you can also be as jubilant as Ben himself.
