कहानी का सारांशः

प्रस्तुत कहानी में एक भीखूभाई नामक कंजूस व्यक्ति का चित्रण किया गया है |
एकदिन भीखूभाई का मन नारियल खाने का हुआ लेकिन घर में एक भी नारियल नहीं था ।
तब भीखूभाई ने अपनी पत्नी लाभुबेन से कहा लेकिन उन्होंने बाजार से नारियल लाने को कहा ।
भीखूभाई न तो बाजार जाना चाहते थे और न ही पैसे खर्च करना चाहते थे ।
इसके बाद वे सीधे खेत मे बूढ़े बरगद के नीचे बैठ गए और बाजार जाकर नारियल का दाम पूछकर आने के बारे मे सोचा ।
इसके बाद भीखूभाई बाजार गए और वहां नारियल वाले से नारियल का दाम पूछा ।
नारियल वाले ने एक नारियल का दाम दो रुपये बताया । भीखूभाई को यह बहुत ज्यादा लगा । तब उन्होंने इससे सस्ते नारियल के बारे मे पूछा ।
नारियल वाले ने बताया कि मंडी में सस्ते नारियल मिल सकता है । तब भीखूभाई तुरन्त मंडी की ओर निकल पड़े।
मंडी में बहुत शोर था । तभी अचानक भीखूभाई को नारियल वाला दिखाई दिया ।
नारियल वाले से दाम पूछने पर उसने दाम एक रुपया बताया ।
भीखू भाई ने उसे पचास पैसे देकर नारियल उठा लिया ।
इसके बाद नारियल वाले ने तुरंत उनके हाथ से नारियल छीन लिया और कहा बंदरगाह मे तुम्हें पचास पैसे मे नारियल मिल जाएगा ।
अब भीखूभाई ने सागर के किनारे एक नाव वाले से दाम पूछा ।
नाव वाले ने उत्तर दिया पचास पैसे में मिल जाएगा ।
भीखूभाई ने हैरान होकर बोला मैं इतनी दूर से पैदल थककर आया हूँ । मुझे पच्चीस पैसे मे दे दो ।
नाव वाले ने भीखूभाई को नारियल के बगीचे में जाने की सलाह दे दी ।
अब भीखूभाई ने नारियल के बगीचे में जाकर माली से दाम पूछा ।
माली ने उत्तर दिया कि पच्चीस पैसे का मिल जाएगा ।
भीखूभाई ने वापस हैरान होकर बोला पूरा रास्ता पैदल, जूते घिस गए । मुझे एक नारियल मुफ़्त मे दे दो ।
माली ने कहा कि अगर मुफ्त में नारियल चाहिये तो पेड़ पर चढ़ जाओ और जितने चाहो तोड़ लो |
भीखूभाई बहुत खुश हो जाते है और पेड़ पर चढ़ने लगते है | जैसे ही वह सबसे बड़े नारियल को तोड़ने के लिए दोनों हाथों को आगे बढ़ाते है तभी अचानक उनके पैर फिसल जाते है । वह एक नारियल को पकड़ लेते है जिससे उनके दोनों पैर हवा में झूलने लगते है|
तभी ऊँट पर सवार एक आदमी वहाँ से गुजर रहा था | भीखूभाई ने उससे मदद माँगी और वह तैयार हो गया । जैसे ही वह उसकी मदद के लिए आगे बढ़े वैसे ही हरे-हरे पत्ते खाने की लालच में ऊँट ने गर्दन झुकाई और अपनी जगह से हट गया ।
इसके बाद उस आदमी ने अपनी जान बचाने के लिए उसने भीखूभाई के पैरों को कसकर पकड़ लिया ।
इसके बाद एक घुड़सवार आया और उनकी मदद करने को तैयार हो गया|
लेकिन घोड़े ने हरी घास के चक्कर में अपने कदम आगे बढ़ा लिए । घुड़सवार ने ऊँटवाले के पैरों को पकड़ लिया |
तीनों नारियल के पेड़ से झूल रहे थे | तभी घुड़सवार ने भीखूभाई से कसकर पकड़े रहने को कहा और सौ रुपए देने की बात की |
इसके बाद ऊँटवाले ने भी दौ सौ रुपए देने की बात की |
पैसों की बात सुनकर भीखूभाई ने अपनी दोनों बाहों को फैला दिया । जिसके कारण घुड़सवार, ऊँटवाला और भीखूभाई तीनों जमीन पर धड़ाम से गिर पड़े।
अंत मे भीखूभाई के ऊपर एक बड़ा सा नारियल गिर गया ।

नैतिक शिक्षा:

इस कहानी से हमें यह शिक्षा मिलती है कि हमें ज्यादा लालच नहीं करना चाहिए l ज्यादा लालच से हमें नुकसान भी हो सकता है l
