‘Rationalization’ is Chapter 3 of Class 9. In this chapter, students will learn about the process of rationalization. A rationalisation is basically a process by which radicals in the denominator of a fraction are eliminated. Below are the general steps to be followed to rationalize the denominator in a fraction: 

Step 1: Multiply the numerator and denominator by an appropriate radical that will remove the radicals in the denominator.

Step 2: Make sure all irrational numbers in the fraction are in simplified form.

Step 3: You can simplify the fraction furthermore if needed.
