Complete answer: The Congress Socialist Party consisted leaders from both sections- the ones who vouched for armed struggles such as Jaiprakash Narayan, Yusuf Mehrally as well as those wanted to practice Ahimsa or armed struggle such as Acharya Narendra Dev. The CSP advocated towards decentralised socialism in which co-operatives, farmers, trade unions would hold power and be a part of the economic process. The party was founded in 1934.

The Communists worked with the CSP during the Popular Front period. Acharya Narendra Dev was one of the main propounders of the Congress Socialist Party.
