Hint: Infrasonic sounds are sounds composed of frequency that are lower than that of the sound that can be heard by the humans which is at a frequency of 10Hz with low frequency the wavelength or the sound pressure is high between users and are generally used and heard by some animals.
Complete solution:
To understand which option hears and doesn’t hear infrasound, we first need to find the meaning of infrasound i.e. sound waves travelling in air formed by compression and rarefaction of wave particles in the air, this compression and rarefaction is known as cycle and when multiple cycles form over a single unit of time period it is known as frequency, in infrasound the number of cycles per unit time is very low which increase the wavelength exponentially making it travel long distance.
Infrasonic sounds produce high wavelength meaning the sounds travel over a long distance sounds like earthquake, thunderstorm or change in wind pattern, sounds which might be faint for us to hear until close but are easily audible to animals that can hear sounds at low frequency. Some mammals from the animal kingdom do produce and hear the infrasonic sounds like elephant, rhino, hippo etc. and some from the water kingdom like whales. Hence, the species that can hear infrasonic sounds that are lower than 20Hz are Whale, Octopus and Rhino.
Therefore, option A is the correct answer.
Note: Bats hear ultrasonic sounds that have low wavelength and high frequency and range from 20Hz to 20000Hz.
