Hint: The sand particles are transported by winds through suspension in the desertic region. These particles are transported in the desert with the natural agent like winds.
Complete answer :
Wind erosion in arid and semi-arid regions is assisted by mechanical weathering.Expansion of rock due to high temperature in the day time as well during summer and cold temperature during night and and winter time leads to contraction of rock.this continuous contraction and expansion of rocks leads to disintegration of rocks, which leads to formation of sands particles.Wind plays a major role in the formation of sand particles . the quantity and size of material lifted and moved by wind determine the degree of wind abrasion. Wind erosion is active only upto 182 cm above the ground surface. Wind erosion occurs in three ways. They are deflation, abrasion and attrition. Attrition is the process in which the sand particles are eroded while they are being transported by wind through the process of saltation and surface creep. Surface creep involves movement of relatively large particles along the ground surface by strong winds . While they are moving the particles collide against each other and are further disintegrated into smaller particles.
Note:
The moving away of sand particles by wind lead to the formation of different types of relief features such as sand dunes, barchans, and star dunes.
