Hint: Sales tax is charged on the cost of an item. We’ll calculate the tax by using formula and add that tax amount to the price of TV.

Complete answer:

The principal amount of the TV is Rs 13,000

So, p = 13,000

And the rate of sale tax charged is 12%

So, r = 12%

The amount that Vinod will have to pay is the principal amount in addition with the sales tax applied on it is,

A = p + r.p

$= 13,000 + \dfrac{{12}}{{100}} \times 13,000$

$ \therefore A = 14,560$

So, the total amount paid by Vinod to buy the TV is Rs 14,560.

Note: - We have also solved these types of question by calculating the tax percentage or discount whatever given in question on an principal amount and then add with the principal amount or subtract it with principal amount to get the final amount according to the given condition of the question.
