Hint: Myopia is an eye defect where a person can’t see far objects clearly but he can see close objects clearly. It is also known as short- sightedness or near sightedness. In this condition, the ciliary muscle of the eye lens loses its property of relaxing properly, and hence due to that the converging power of the lens increases.

Complete step by step answer:
Myopia is also known as short- sightedness, in which a person is not able to see distant objects clearly. It occurs due to high converging power of the eye lens and lengthening of our eye-ball. In this the focal length of the eye lens reduces and due to that the distance between retina and eye lens increases. In myopia, light rays focus in front of retina instead of retina, and the image is formed in front of retina, instead of retina, due to this a person with myopia can’t see distant objects clearly. Hence, true, Myopia is caused due to the high converging power of the eye lens.

Note: Myopia or short-sightedness can be corrected by wearing spectacles having a concave lens. Because a concave lens diverges the light rays coming parallelly from distant objects. Concave lenses are used to decrease the converging power of myopic eye lens.
