Hint:-Pancreas is the organ which is located in the abdomen of the human body. It acts as both an exocrine and endocrine gland which helps in digestion and regulation of blood sugar in the body. It secretes two most important hormones namely glucagon and insulin which regulates the blood sugar.
Complete Answer:-Pancreas in our body is located in the abdomen behind the stomach in the left upper portion of the body near the spleen. It is divided into head, neck and tail. The cells within the pancreas help to maintain blood glucose level. Different types of cells that are found in pancreas are alpha cells, beta cells and delta cells out of these two foremost are important as alpha cells are responsible for secretion of glucagon hormone which help in increasing the blood sugar levels whereas on contrary beta cells secretes the hormone insulin which decreases the blood sugar levels. These both cells maintain and balance the sugar levels in the blood and both are equally important. Glucagon hormone promotes the creation of glucose and the breakdown of glycogen to glucose in the liver. Glucose is taken into the beta cells and degraded at the end it results in depolarisation of the cell membrane which stimulates the release of insulin. In this way it works for our body and maintains a healthy balance of sugar in the body.
Note:- Increase in sugar levels may lead to severe diseases one of most popular is diabetes which are found in every 4th person all around. Diabetes are of two types that are ‘Type 1 diabetes’ and ‘ Type 2 diabetes’ , type is most common diabetes which is due to impaired insulin secretion whereas type 1 is chronic autoimmune disease in which insulin injections are taken for survival.
