The Himalayas are the mountain ranges that separate the Tibetan plateau and the Indian sub-continent. The highest point in the Himalayas is Mount Everest. The Himalayas are extended to the countries namely Pakistan, Nepal, India, China, and Bhutan. Some of the important passes through this mountain include Nathula pass, Rohtang pass, Jelep La pass, Chang La pass, Mana pass, Banihal pass, Zoji La pass, Fotu la pass, and many more. The Himalayas are made of Metamorphic and sedimentary rocks. The meaning of the term “ Himalaya” is “ Abode of the snow”. The Himalayan mountains consist of Tibetan Himalayas, the great Himalayas, the lower Himalayan range, and Shivalik hills. Some of the important Himalayan lakes are Mansarovar lake, Rakshastal Lake, Puma Yumco lake, Tilicho lake, Rara lake, Gurudomgmar lake, Gokyo lake, and Tsomgo lake.
