1. According to Article 58 of the Constitution, No person shall be eligible for election as President unless he is a citizen of India.
2. He/ she is thirty-five years of age and is qualified for election as a member of the House of the People.
3. An individual will not be qualified if he holds an office of benefit under the Government of India or any State government, or under the jurisdiction of any local or other authority under the jurisdiction of either Government of that State.

Note
An individual who holds an office of profit under the Government of India or the Government of any State or any local or other authority subject to the jurisdiction of any of those Governments shall not be eligible for election as President.
Individual office holders are allowed to stand as presidential candidates. They are:
1. The governor of any state.
2. The current vice – president
3. A minister of the union or any state includes the chief ministers and the prime ministers of India.
