Hint:A meiocyte is a kind of cell that differentiates into a gamete via the procedure of meiosis. Through meiosis, the diploid meiocyte divides into 4 haploid gametes. In sexually reproducing organisms the meiocytes give rise to haploid gametes, which on fertilization produces zygote.

Gametes are of two types ie male gamete (sperm) and female gamete (ovum).
1. Spermatogenesis:- It is the process of production of male gametes i.e. sperms. Sperms are haploid male gametes which are produced from spermatogonia which are diploid cells. Spermatogonia is diploid, it is a type of meiocyte as it gives rise to gametes in meiosis.
2. Oogenesis:- It is a type of gametogenesis in females. In this a haploid ovum is produced in the end from the oogonia cells which are diploid. Here the oogonia acts as meiocyte as it undergoes meiosis and gives rise to haploid ovum. All this process takes place in the female ovaries.
Gametogenesis explains that it is the process that results in the formation of haploid cells (n) from a diploid (2n) with the aid of meiosis and cell differentiation.
