IISCO has a crude steel production capacity of $2.5$ million tonnes per annum. It was established in the year 1918. The foundation for the green field modernization and the expansion of the IISCO steel Plant was laid down by Prime Minister Manmohan Singh at Burnpur on 24 December 2006. The production of crude steel at ISP in the year 2017 – 18 was $1.80$ million tonnes and the production of saleable steel was $1.69$ million tonnes.
