Introduction to chapter 1
Chapter 1 “Vah Chidiya Jo” is a poem written by the author named Kedarnath Agrawal. The poem beautifully depicts the beauty of nature. In this poem, the poet talks about a little bluebird and the activities of the bird.

The poem depicts the loving nature of the bird, the poem mentions how the little bird is fond of grains, the wide forest. The poem then depicts how the bird loves to sing across the forest. About the poet
The poem is written by Kedarnath Agrawal. Kedarnath Agrawal is among the contemporary writers of Hindi literature. Hanuman Prasad Gupta and his wife Ghasiti Devi were the parents of the author. He was born on April 1, 1911. He was born in the small village of Kamasin in the district of Banda (UP). In 1938, he received his B.A. and L.L.B. qualifications and began practising law in Banda.

He was a participant of the Pragatisheel Lekhak Sangh, a group influenced by the Progressive Writers' Movement on the left. His work has been exhibited and translated into other languages, including English, German, and Russian.

In 1973, Kedarnath Agarwal was given the Soviet Land Nehru Prize in honour of his achievements. In 1986, he was awarded the Sahitya Akademi Award.

Parvati Devi was Agarwal's wife. The couple had two girls and a boy together. On June 22, 2000, Agarwal passed away.

1. कविता पढ़कर तुम्हारे मन में चिड़िया का जो चित्र उभरता है उस चित्र को कागज़ पर बनाओ।

उत्तर: इस कविता में चिडिया एक संतोषी और नीले पंखों वाली चिडिया है, जैसे- दाना चुगती, दूध पीती, कटोरे में मुँह डालती,बूढ़े वन के लिए गाना गाती और नदि के दिल से मोती लाने वाली चिड़िया आदि।

2. तुम्हें कविता को कोई और शीर्षक देना हो तो क्या शीर्षक देना चाहोगे? उपयुक्त शीर्षक सोच कर लिखो।

उत्तर: 'नीले पंखों वाली चिड़िया।

3. इस कविता के आधार पर बताओ कि चिड़िया को किन-किन चीज़ों से प्यार है?

उत्तर: चिड़िया जिन चीज़ों से प्यार करती है वो इस प्रकार हैं-

(1) चिड़िया को खेतों में लगे जौ-बाजरे की फलियों (अन्न) से प्यार है।

(2) उसे जंगल में मिले एकान्त, जहाँ वह खुली हवा में गाना गा सकती है, से प्यार है।

(3) उसे नदी से प्यार है जिसका ठंडा और मीठा पानी वह पीती है।

यह चीज़ें उसे आज़ादी का एहसास दिलाती हैं। इसलिए वह इन सबसे प्यार करती है।

4. आशय स्पष्ट करो:

(क) रस उँडेल कर गा लेती है

उत्तर: ''रस उँडेल कर गा लेती है''

इस पंक्ति का आशय यह है की चिड़िया बूढ़े बन के लिए बंधन मुक्त होकर और खुश होकर गाने लगती है। उसके गाने में इतना मीठा पन है जब वह गाती है तो ऐसा लगता है जैसे उसने वातावरण में मीठा रस घोल दिया है।

(ख) चढ़ी नदी का दिल टटोलकर

जल का मोती ले जाती है

उत्तर: ''चढ़ी नदी का दिल टटोलकर

जल का मोती ले जाती है''

इस पंक्ति का आशया है की चिड़िया बहुत ही फुर्तीली और साहसी है जो बहते पानी से अपने प्यास ही नहीं बुझाती बल्कि नदी का दिल टटोलकर उसके जल से के बीच से मोती को भी ढूंढ लेती है।

इन पंक्तियों में चिड़िया की कार्य-कुशलता को दर्शाया गया है।

अनुमान और कल्पना

1. कवि ने नीली चिड़िया का नाम नहीं बताया है। वह कौन सी चिड़िया रही होगी? इस प्रश्न का उत्तर जानने के लिए पक्षी-विज्ञानी सालिम अली की पुस्तक ‘भारतीय पक्षी’ देखो। इनमें ऐसे पक्षी भी शामिल हैं जो जाड़े में एशिया के उत्तरी भाग और अन्य ठंडे देशों से भारत आते हैं। उनकी पुस्तक को देखकर तुम अनुमान लगा सकते हो कि इस कविता में वर्णित नीली चिड़िया शायद इनमें से कोई एक रही होगी-

उत्तर: इस कविता में वर्णित नीली चिड़िया शायद नीलकंठ रही होगी, क्योंकि उसके शरीर के ज्यादातर भाग का रंग नीला आकार छोटा तथा आवाज़ मीठी होती है।

2. नीचे कुछ पक्षियों के नाम दिए गए हैं। उनमें यदि कोई पक्षी एक से अधिक रंग का है तो लिखो, कि उसके किस हिस्से का रंग कैसा है। जैसे तोते की चोंच लाल है, शरीर हरा है।

उत्तर: मैना- मैना के पंख भूरे व सफ़ेद रंग के होते हैं। उनकी टाँगें हलकी लाल होती हैं।

कौआ- कौआ का पूरा शरीर काला होता है।

बतख- बतख सफ़ेद रंग का होता है। इसके पैर हल्के गुलाबी रंग के होते हैं।

कबूतर- कबूतर का रंग स्लेटी सफ़ेद होता है। गरदन कुछ-कुछ नीले रंग की होती है। इसकी टाँगे लाल होती हैं।

3. कविता का हर बंध ‘वह चिड़िया जो-‘ से शुरू होता है और मुझे बहुत प्यार है’ पर खत्म होता है। तुम भी इन। पंक्तियों का प्रयोग करते हुए अपनी कल्पना से कविता में कुछ नए बंध जोड़ो।

उत्तर: वह चिड़िया जो

चींची करके

सबका मन बहलाती है।

नील गगन की सीमा पाने

पंख पसारे उड़ जाती है।

अपना घर बनाने के लिए।

4. तुम भी ऐसी कल्पना कर सकते हो कि ‘वह फूल का पौधा जो-पीली पंखुड़ियों वाला-महक रहा है, मैं हूँ। उसकी विशेषताएँ मुझ में हैं …। फूल के बदले वह कोई दूसरी चीज़ भी हो सकती है जिसकी विशेषताओं को गिनाते हुए तुम उसी चीज़ से अपनी समानता बता सकते हो … ऐसी कल्पना के आधार पर कुछ पंक्तियाँ लिखो।

भाषा की बात

1. पंखोंवाली चिड़िया

नीले पंखोंवाली चिड़िया

ऊपरवाली दराज

सबसे ऊपरवाली दराज़

यहाँ रेखांकित शब्द विशेषण का काम कर रहे हैं। ये शब्द चिड़िया और दराज संज्ञाओं की विशेषताएँ बता रहे हैं, अतः | रेखांकित शब्द विशेषण हैं और चिड़िया, दराज विशेष्य हैं। यहाँ ‘वाला/वाली’ जोड़कर बनने वाले कुछ और विशेषण दिए गए हैं। ऊपर दिए गए उदाहरणों की तरह इनके आगे एक-एक विशेषण और जोड़ो।
