Whenever we feel bored we try different things to entertain ourselves .We spend our leisure time by doing different activities and the most popular leisure time activity of people these days is to watch Television. Television is the most popular form of entertainment whether it be for the kids, adults, elders for the people of all age groups. 


Our life would have been so boring without television. Television gives us knowledge about the world, it also widens our horizon . We can listen to music, we can watch movies . Everyone is very fond of television,  but have you ever thought about who invented television? When was it invented?

What is Television?

Television can be defined as a system which is used for converting visual images along with sound or audio into electrical signals, then transmitting them by means such as radio and then electronically displaying them on the screen. It can also be defined as an electronic device that is used for receiving sound and images that create television programs which the people watch. Television is also popularly known as T.V. or Telly.


Who Invented Television?

It has always been a matter of conflict about who invented the television because its credit cannot be given to one person only. The invention of television occurred across various stages. There were many people who claimed the patent of inventing it , but the two persons who are considered as the pillars of this invention were John Logie Baird and Philo Taylor Farnsworth.


The Father of Television

John Logie Baird who is known as the Father of Television was a Scottish inventor. By profession he was an engineer. He was born on 13th August 1888 and died on 14th June 1946. He is known for the invention of Mechanical Television as well. He was the first person who demonstrated a working television in the 1920s and he also got a patent for his experiment.

The first demonstration of television by Baird was 30- line images by reflected light instead of backlit. In 1925 Baird was successful in developing the first moving image, which was the image of a human face on television.


Who First Demonstrated Electronic Television?

It was Philo Taylor Farnsworth who demonstrated the first Electronic Television on the 7th of September 1927. It was done in San Francisco at an early age of 21 years. He was the person who made many significant contributions to the early development of all-electronic television. He was popularly known for his invention in 1927 of the first fully functional all-electronic image pickup device and also the first fully functional and complete all-electronic television system

When was Television Invented?

On 7th September 1927 the electronic television was first successfully demonstrated in San Francisco. It was invented by Philo Taylor Fransworth who was a 21 year old inventor who lived in a house without even electricity till he was 14. 


When he was in high school he began to conceive of a system that would capture moving images in such a form that could be coded onto the radiowaves and then transformed back into an image on the screen. 


Between the years 1953-1955 the television programming started to take some steps away from the formats of radio. In 1980’s home video cassette recorders became hugely available and the viewers got the ability to record as well as replay programs .


Summary

The invention of television was not the task of a single person. The invention process of television went through various stages and had the contributions of various people. 


Television is the most widely used mode of entertainment and its invention dates back to the 1920’s and till date new technologies are being introduced in it. Television has changed  a lot with the development of technology. The television has now become smart and upgraded as compared to the past .
