JEE Main 2024 is undoubtedly the exam of the year, mainly for engineering students. The change in frequency from once a year to twice a year encouraged more candidates to take the JEE Main 2024 exam. The exam is given online in two sessions as a computer-based exam. The first session of JEE Main 2024 will take place on January 24th, - February 1st 2024. In addition, the second session of JEE Main 2024 will be held on the 1st of April - the 15th of April 2024.

What Documents Are Required for the JEE Main Exam Hall?

NTA had released a JEE Main Information Bulletin along with the admit card. The documents required for JEE Main 2024 are as follows:


1)  JEE Main Admit Card 

  • A printed copy of the admit card of JEE Main.

  • The printed admit card is treated as the entry ticket to the exam centre and hall.

  • You can download the admit card from NTA’s website (nta.ac.in) or JEE Main website.

  • It is the token that confirms your details and approves you to sit for the national level exam.


2) Authorised Photo IDs

  • Any government-approved photo ID must be carried by you.

  • The IDs which are accepted in the examination hall are PAN Card/Driving Licence/Voter ID/Passport/Aadhar Card (with photo)/Aadhar Enrolment No. /Ration Card. 

  • You have to be sure that the IDs are original, valid and non-expired.


3) Passport Size Photo

  • One of the most important documents required at the JEE Main exam centre is passport size photo.

  • The photo must be similar to that uploaded on JEE Main Online Application Form.

  • During the exam, you have to paste the photo on the specific space in the attendance sheet at the centre.


4) PwD certificate

  • If you are a PwD candidate and claiming relaxation under the same, then you have to produce a valid certificate. 

  • The above-mentioned certificate must be issued by the competent authority.


5) Category Certificate (if applicable):

  • Reserved category candidates (SC/ST/OBC-NCL) must bring the relevant category certificate issued by the competent authority.

  • The certificate should adhere to the prescribed format and include essential details such as caste, sub-caste, and other relevant information.

  • Failure to provide a valid category certificate may result in the candidate being treated as a general category candidate.


6) Ballpoint Pen:

  • A ballpoint pen is a crucial item to carry to the exam center.

  • Ensure that the pen is in working condition and use either blue or black ink, as other colored pens are generally not allowed.

  • Pencils and any other colored pens are typically prohibited by exam authorities.


7) Transparent Water Bottle and Hand Sanitizer:

  • Considering the importance of hygiene, candidates are advised to carry a transparent water bottle.

  • The water bottle should not have any labels or markings to comply with exam regulations.

  • Additionally, carrying a small bottle of hand sanitizer within the prescribed size limit is recommended.

  • These items contribute to a comfortable and hygienic exam environment, ensuring the well-being of candidates during the examination.


What Are the Items Prohibited in the Exam Centre?

Apart from the documents required for JEE Main 2024, you should also remember the items prohibited in the exam centre. The following items are barred from the exam centre.

  • Instrument/Geometry/Pencil box, Handbag, Purse, any kind of paper/Stationary/Textual material (printed or written material).

  • Eatables and water (loose or packed)

  • Mobile phone/Earphone/Microphone/Pager, Calculator, Docupen/slide rules, Log tables, Camera, Tape recorder, to wear/carry any type of watch including electronic, watches with facilities of calculator, any metallic item or electronic gadgets/devices 

  • You will be provided with sheets for rough work and hence NTA does not allow any type of paper inside the exam hall.

  • You will be provided with all the required stationery such as Blue/Black pen at the exam centre only. Thus, you need not carry them also and those are not allowed either.


Some Extra Points to Remember

  1. NTA will not be responsible for any possessions stolen or lost at the exam premises.

  2. If you possess any of the above-mentioned items, your candidature will be treated as unfair means and your current examination will be cancelled and you will also be debarred for future examination(s) and your equipment will be seized.
