The Story of the Desert: A Brief Overview

One of the most interesting facts about the desert short story is that it combines religion and morals together. The original story speaks about a different version of the creation myth, in which God creates the world and then man and how man is cast out of paradise due to his own disobedience.

Likewise, this story too has a very similar plotline, where God informs man about how few pinches of sand will fall from the sky every time man does anything which is sinful but man disobeys God and does as he wishes. This article strives to put forth the story and its morals in a language that can be easily understood by children.

The Desert Story Summary in English

It is a very short story, which opens with God creating the world without a single desert present. Instead, he made a lot of fertile, fresh and healthy lands filled with beautiful gardens that have green trees, tasty fruits, berries and roots and colourful flowers. God then created man in order to maintain peace, order, harmony and balance.

He then explained that for every sin that he (man) commits, a speck of sand will fall from the sky to the earth. That being said, if man continues to sin on a regular basis, the whole world will turn to a desert. Man, however, did not obey God’s warning.

He thought to himself on how few specks of sand will not make any big difference. Hence, he began to do wicked stuff and specks of sand started appearing on earth. But that did not stop man, as he continued to do those wicked, evil and monstrous sins. As a result, major parts of the world are covered in deserts and that is why there are deserts around the world.
