  • How Krishna Died?

  • Who Killed Krishna?

An Introduction to the Tale of How Did Krishna Die?

Everything began when Krishna sat down in a tree in a jungle one day and entered into Yoga Samadhi, or meditation. Jara, a hunter, then entered the forest. That hunter mistakenly thought that Krishna's moving foot was a concealed deer, so he shot a fatal arrow that pierced Krishna's feet. The hunter realised his mistake as soon as he arrived before Krishna and begged the lord for forgiveness. He was reassured by Lord Krishna, who also explained how his demise was inevitable. Lord Krishna departed from the world of the living as a result. The beginning of the Kaliyuga is regarded as the moment when Lord Krishna passed away.

When Did Krishna Die?

This story started when Krishna began pondering how and by what means he should depart from this body. He recalled what Rishi Durvasa had said, and immediately, in accordance with the saint's instructions, he applied Payasam (a liquid made of milk, sugar, and rice), all over his body. He was unable to apply it on his feet because his legs were on the ground. When Durvasa noticed it, he exclaimed, "Krishna! Your foot does not have any payasam on it. Your foot will be your demise.”

Before he could say anything, he got to know that the Yadava clan that was instructed by Krishna to offer prayers at the revered Prabhas sea had started killing each other. Instead of worshipping, the Yadavas began to drink and have fun. They lost their minds and started fighting with each other. They killed one another with the help of the Eraka grass blades. As soon as Krishna learned of the situation, he sent Arjuna to transport the Yadava survivors to Hastinapur. He departed towards the jungle, aware of his impending demise.

Under a tree, Krishna reclined and entered Yoga Samadhi. At that time, a hunter by the name of Jara visited that forest and mistook Krishna's moving foot for a deer that was hiding. He then released a deadly arrow that struck Krishna in the feet. The hunter realised his error as soon as he arrived at Krishna and begged the lord for forgiveness. He was comforted by Lord Krishna, who also explained that his death was unavoidable. According to Krishna, in his past life as Rama in the Treta Yuga, Rama ambushed and killed Vali who was Sugriva's brother. He has now paid the price for that through Jara, who in a prior life was king Vaali. The Ruler of the Universe is not exempt from the laws of Karma, as this story so beautifully illustrates. Hence, Lord Krishna left the mortal world. The beginning of the Kaliyuga is regarded as the moment when Lord Krishna passed away.

Krishna Died

Moral of the Story

Every being that is born must die. It's just a question of time. There will always be death, and some individuals will pass away more quickly than others. The Ruler of the Universe is not exempt from the rules of Karma, which is another crucial point that is eloquently highlighted in this tale. No matter how strong or important they are, nobody can avoid dying.

Note to the Parents

This tale is a great teaching resource for parents teaching their kids about karma and how it always, without fail, comes back to one during their lifetime. The readers will also understand that everyone, gods and mankind alike, must die. Everyone will ultimately pass away, thus they should only act morally while they are still alive.

Conclusion

As is common knowledge, this story is about how and why Krishna died and where did krishna die. It is said that Lord Krishna departed at the start of the Kaliyuga. Krishna said that in his previous existence as Rama, Vali, Sugriva's brother, had been attacked and murdered by Rama. Through Jara, who in a former existence was king Vaali, he has now been made to pay the price for it. That is the reason why Krishna dies.
