Kabandha Meets Rama Story

In the forest, Rama and Lakshmana saw a wild demon. His name was Kabanda.

When her brother shot her arrow and stopped her arm, her hungry demon grabbed her and was about to eat her.

When Kabanda was bleeding, he asked her for her identity. As Rama and Lakshmana introduced themselves, Kabandha bowed in her respect and told her own story. He said that Brahma cursed him to turn into a demon for his misdeeds and that he could regain his original form only if Rama was killed.

When his body burned to ashes, a beautiful figure emerged from it. After becoming Gandharva, Kabandha advised Rama to hunt down Sugriva's help and rescue Sita.

After his death, Kabandha regains the form of Gandharva and guides Rama to Mount Rishamka, where the exiled monkey chief Sugriva is hiding. Kabandha advises Rama to make an alliance with Sugriva, who helps him find Rama's wife, Sita, who Ravana, the demon king of Lanka, has kidnapped.
