Ajamil Turns A New Leaf Summary

Ajamil was the son of a devout devotee of Lord Vishnu. Contrary to his holy father, Ajamil was lazy and spent much of his time engaging in sinful activities. One day, his father instructed him to pluck flowers from a nearby forest one day. There, a beautiful tribal woman, accompanied by her lover, fell in love with the handsome Ajamil. Upon approaching him, she expressed her desire to marry him. It did not take long for Ajamil to agree to marry her because he was equally captivated by her beauty. The couple were soon married.

With his bride by his side, Ajmil returned home. In shock, his father rejected her, saying she had committed a sin. During this heated argument, Ajamil threw his father to the ground and asked him to leave the house. In the following years, Ajamil's sins continued to increase day by day. Drinking heavily and gambling with bad company were two of his vices.

Ajamil's wife gave birth to ten sons. The youngest child, Narayana, was the most beloved. Slowly, Ajamil's health began to deteriorate and he took to his bed. In his frail and ailing condition, he was visited by Yama's two messengers at his bedside. Suddenly startled, he screamed for his son Narayan. Upon hearing the plea, Vishnu, who is known as Narayana, responded. Immediately, he sent his men to inform Yamraj to delay the execution of Ajamil. Yamraj agreed to the proposal.

During this time, Ajamil drowned himself in prayer to thank Vishnu for saving him. His corrupt activities were put to an end and he became a pious individual. Vishnu blessed Ajamil for changing his bad behaviour.
