Hint: What we will do is first we will understand the meaning of axis and axes and then we will understand how axes meet at a point ( 0,0 ). Now, before we start this question, let us understand what is the meaning of axis and axes.
Complete step-by-step solution:
An axis is a line with respect to which a curve of the figure is drawn, measure, rotated, etc. there is total of two axes which are the horizontal axis and vertical axis.
The horizontal axis is also known as the sleeping axis and the coordinate plane is called the x-axis and the vertical axis is also known as the standing axis and in the coordinate plane is called the y-axis.
Range of both axis, x-axis and y-axis is $(-\infty ,\infty )$ .
The plural of the axis as axes, that is when we talk about the x-axis and y-axis together, we called them together axes.
Now, as the x-axis and y-axis both intersect each other at the right angle and the point at which the axes meet is the midpoint of both axes.
Now, for interval $(-\infty,\infty )$, 0 is the midpoint of the x-axis and y-axis.
So, ( 0, 0 ) is the point at which axes meet and the point ( 0, 0 ) is called the origin.
From, the figure we can see the plot of the x-axis, y-axis and origin ( 0, 0 ) in the Cartesian plane.
Note: While, making a graph and plotting any line, one must know where does origin lies and what is the range of axes $(-\infty,\infty )$ and what is the notation of origin that is ( 0, 0 ).
