The horizontal axis is also known as the sleeping axis and the coordinate plane is called the x-axis and the vertical axis is also known as the standing axis and in the coordinate plane is called the y-axis.
Range of both axis, x-axis and y-axis is $(-\infty ,\infty )$ .
The plural of the axis as axes, that is when we talk about the x-axis and y-axis together, we called them together axes.
Now, as the x-axis and y-axis both intersect each other at the right angle and the point at which the axes meet is the midpoint of both axes.
Now, for interval $(-\infty,\infty )$, 0 is the midpoint of the x-axis and y-axis.
So, ( 0, 0 ) is the point at which axes meet and the point ( 0, 0 ) is called the origin.
