Some uses of Hypo solution or Sodium thio – sulphite are as follow:
-Sodium thio – sulphite is used clinically as an intravenous medication for the treatment of poisoning of cyanide inside the body and for other metals also.
-It is also used in the treatment of Calciphylaxis, dermal lesions, etc.
-Sodium thio – sulphite is also used as an anti – inflammatory agent, anti – calcification agent.
-Hypo solution is also known as photographic fixer, because it is used in the processing of photographic film as well as in photographic paper to fix an image on the after the development.
-Hypo solution is used as a dechlorinator for neutralization of the chlorinated water or for lowering of the level of chlorine in the water bodies like swimming pools, buckets, storage tanks, taps, etc.
-It is used in laboratories in the iodometric titration where hypo solution is used in standardized form.
