Hint: Photosynthesis is the process by which green plants use light energy from the sun and transform it into chemical energy for further utilization. photosynthesis is the characteristic feature of autotrophs. In photosynthesis, green plants make their own food with the help of green pigment called chlorophyll.

Complete answer:
Two major events that occur during the process of photosynthesis are:
> Light Dependent Reactions
> Light Independent Reactions
A) LIGHT DEPENDENT REACTIONS
Photosynthesis begins with the absorption of light energy from the sun. The light is absorbed through chlorophyll (green pigments present in chloroplasts). The light energy excites electrons resulting in an electron transport chain. Two electron transport chains generate ATP and NADPH.
So, at the end of the light-dependent reaction, water is utilized and the oxygen is produced. These reactions occur only during the day, in the presence of sunlight.
B) LIGHT INDEPENDENT REACTIONS
In this reaction, water and carbon dioxide are used to generate glucose, hence it is also known as a carbon-fixing reaction.
These reactions occur in the stroma of the chloroplast. ATP and NADPH produced in the light reaction are utilized in this process.
The glucose is produced through a process/cycle known as the Calvin Cycle in which the ATP and NADPH are utilized to drive the reaction forward and convert the carbon dioxide obtained from the atmosphere into usable glucose.

Additional information:
The sugar (glucose or fructose) that is produced at the end of the light-independent reaction is utilized by the stem, leaves, root, etc. for their growth. Basically, sugar acts as a source of energy.
There are a few important factors that may affect the process of photosynthesis. Let’s have a look:
Light intensity:
The intensity of light is directly proportional to the rate of photosynthesis.
Carbon dioxide concentration:
High concentrations of carbon dioxide result in a higher rate of photosynthesis.
Temperature:
The optimum temperature range for photosynthesis is 25 degrees Celsius to 35 degrees Celsius.
Water:
Water deficiency can cause problems for the intake of carbon dioxide.

Note: All autotrophs make their food through photosynthesis. Photosynthesis is a very crucial process not only for plants but also for humans. It helps in maintaining the oxygen and carbon dioxide levels in the atmosphere. Photosynthesis is also an essential part of the food chain.
