Hint:
- Begin with a powerful statement because it is the first thing that is read in the story.
- Build your story while keeping in mind that you only have a limited number of words.
- To have a great impact on the story always finish the story powerfully.
Complete answer:
It was a night in the middle of June. It was terribly hot. The year was still, to make it worse. There was no electricity. After the day's hard work, I was completely exhausted, but I had no choice but to sit alone on the balcony or sleep in this oppressive sun. I decided that sitting on the balcony would be more comfortable, so I relocated there. After a few minutes of sitting alone, I noticed my neighbours on their balconies as well. They were talking when they came up with the idea to play "antakshari." They approached me and asked if I wanted to join them. I concurred. Then, after a few hours, the power came on, and my joy was unbounded. I hurried to my room after saying good night to my neighbours. I kept thinking that there would be no entertainment if my neighbours or friends were not present. I was soundly sleeping. The effects of a power outage are not always as bad as people believe.
Note:
- Dialogue and characterization are two things to think about while writing short stories.
- Pacing is essential.
- Make your story as powerful as it can be.
- Basic grammar and editing should be checked.
