After the process of pollination, the very next step is fertilization where the male part, that is, anther is transferred to the female part present in the ovule. When the pollen grains reach the stigma then they burst out and formation of the pollen tube starts which moves towards the ovules in the ovary. Seeds germinate under suitable conditions to produce new plants.
The fertilized egg divides several times to form an embryo in the ovule and a hard coat is developed around the ovule and it gradually grows into a seed. The ovary of the flower turns into fruit which has seeds inside it. Other parts of the flower such as sepals,petals,stamen,stigma and style become dry and fall off. Fruit protects the seed. Some fruits are hard and dry, and some are fleshy, soft and juicy.

Cucurbits produce unisexual flowers while tomatoes, potatoes produces bisexual flowers.
Flowers of papaya and watermelon are example of unisexual flowers. Hibiscus and mustard plants are bisexuals.
