Hint:-A plant body consists of different types of tissue. Other than the dermal and vascular tissue, all plant tissues are known as ground tissues. The ground tissue system is generated from a ground tissue meristem.

Complete Answer:-
The ground tissue is a type of plant tissue that includes all tissues other than dermal tissues and vascular tissues. According to the nature of the cell walls, this type of tissue is classified into three types which are Parenchyma cells, Collenchyma cells, and Sclerenchyma cells.
Parenchyma cell is a versatile ground tissue. These cells possess thin and flexible cell walls which are composed of cellulose. They are generally polyhedral when close-packed. Parenchyma cells are generally large. and they build the filler tissue in the soft parts of plants. This tissue has large central vacuoles that permit the cells to reserve and regulate ions, various waste products, and water. Parenchyma tissues are usually found in the cortex, pericycle, pith, and medullary rays in the primary stem and root. They form the mesophyll tissue in the leaves. They help in the storage of starch, protein, fats, oils, and water in roots. They also repair the wound of plants.
Collenchyma tissue is made up of elongated cells. This type of tissue has irregularly thickened cell walls. Collenchyma tissue mainly gives structural support, especially in growing shoots and leaves. This tissue is responsible for the making up of the things such as the resilient strands in stalks of celery. They are usually living cells and are composed of cellulose and pectin.
Sclerenchyma is a type of ground tissue which is responsible for making the plant hard and stiff. Sclerenchyma mainly functions as the supporting tissue of plants. The cell wall of sclerenchyma is made up of cellulose, hemicellulose, and lignin. Sclerenchyma cells are the principal supporting cells in plant tissues that have ceased elongation.
All types of ground tissue are mainly involved in providing support to the plant. They also store nutrients and water but they are unable to transport the materials.
Thus, the right option is D.

Note:- The ground tissue is a plant tissue that denotes all tissues other than dermal tissues and vascular tissues. Based on the nature of the cell walls, this type of tissue is classified into three types which are Parenchyma cells, Collenchyma cells, and Sclerenchyma cells. Parenchyma cells help in the storage of carbohydrates and water as it has a large central vacuole while the other cells support the plants. But ground tissues do not transport various materials throughout the plant.
