Hint: Photosynthesis is the process of preparation of food in green plants by their own and also they produce food to other organisms which are depending on them by using water , carbon dioxide with the help of sunlight and chlorophyll.
Complete answer
In the process of photosynthesis the light energy from the sun gets converted to chemical energy which is later used for the growth of the plants. The water absorbed by the root is broken into protons and the oxygen molecule through the process known as photolysis. This process generally takes place in the presence of sunlight. The chlorophyll which is present in the chloroplast will absorb the sunlight. The oxygen which is obtained by this process gets released into the outer environment.
Later this will be used by all other organisms for their respiration. photosynthesis mainly takes place in the chloroplast. This is also known as plastid. The byproduct of photosynthesis reaction is sugar or glucose which is then converted into starch and stored. The starch is stored in the chloroplast where it has a membrane called thylakoid membrane and the stroma.
$6CO_2+6H_2O \to C_6H_{12}O_6 +6O_2$
This is the reaction which is taking place during the photosynthesis in which the carbon dioxide and water within the presence of sunlight which is then converted to glucose sugar and the oxygen. Water is one of the important things in photosynthesis because it provides the hydrogen needed to form the glucose. Water enters the plants through the stomata through the process known as diffusion. Therefore the main source of oxygen liberated throughout the process of photosynthesis is water.
Note: Photosynthesis is very important in living organisms because it is the main source of oxygen for the atmosphere. It is also very important for plants as it helps in growth and development. The major role of water is to provide electrons for the light reactions.
