Hint: Pneumonia is a lung disease where the accumulation of fluid takes place inside alveoli and bronchioles which cause difficulty in breathing. This disease transmits through the air or physical contact.

Complete Answer:
Primary atypical pneumonia is also known as walking pneumonia majorly caused by the bacterium Mycoplasma pneumoniae. Mycoplasma Pneumoniae live and grow inside the respiratory tract and spread infections.

Additional information:
Atypical pneumonia is milder than pneumonia. Symptoms include sore throat, chest pain, fever, dry cough, sneezing, and headache. It transmits from person to person by droplets from an infected person and also by sharing objects. Atypical pneumonia is also caused by Chlamydophila pneumoniae which is common in school children and Legionella pneumophila which is the most severe atypical pneumonia common in adults and smoking people who have a weak immune system. Infected birds also transmit atypical pneumonia by bacteria Chlamydophilla psittaci.
Typical pneumonia caused by bacteria Streptococcus pneumoniae and Haemophilus influenzae. Disease bronchopneumonia occurs in adults while lobar pneumonia occurs in an old aged person. It is an infectious disease transmitted from person to person. Symptoms include headache, a sudden chill, chest pain, cough with mucus sputum, and abdominal distension. In severe cases, lips and nails become grey to blue. Treatment includes drug erythromycin, sulphonamide. The complication in pneumonia causes the spread of bacteria in the blood which causes organ failure, damage in the lungs, trouble in breathing, a pocket of pus from inside or outside to the lungs which spreads infection. Untreated pneumonia leads to death. Typical pneumonia is more severe than atypical pneumonia.

So, the correct answer is ‘Mycoplasma pneumoniae’.

Note: Pneumonia is also caused by viruses and fungi. Influenza virus causes Respiratory syncytial virus disease which is most common in the United States. Coccidioidomycosis causes valley fever which causes pneumonia. It is not an infectious disease because it is caused by spore inhalation.
