Hint: Oxygen deprivation or lack of oxygen in muscles often leads to cramps as the lack of the gas produced lactic acid accumulation is muscles. It is a very common problem in players as they do vigorous physical activities for several hours constantly without any breaks. So, the body requires more oxygen in order to provide energy and stamina.

Complete answer:
Lack of oxygen in muscles leads to cramps, fatigue sometimes swelling as the body sometimes lacks enough energy to workout. This happens due to lactic acid accumulation in muscles from the metabolism of carbohydrate in the cells.
Usually, cricketer’s cramps during any sport due to fluctuations in energies, low amount of oxygen supply which also can be caused by loss of salt through sweating. Intracellular acidosis or lactic acid accumulation has been regarded as the most important cause of skeletal muscle fatigue.
Also, various factors are there beside the lactic acid cause like cramps can also occur due to dehydration as well. Breakdown of pyruvate in presence of oxygen takes place in mitochondria leading to the formation of acid. This also results as due to overdue energy the body starts anaerobic glycolysis. As we know glycolysis is the process of oxygen formation in the body using carbohydrate products.
However, cramps are temporary injuries. It takes hardly \[4 - 5\] hours to get the pain lessen and muscles again start to feel good. When the lactic accumulation starts in muscles, the heart pumps more blood in order to provide more oxygen as the oxygen demand is required. In result heavy breathing is needed during the acid accumulation. Once the muscles relax and the oxygen or water demand is fulfilled by the necessary activities the body gains back to normal hence, performing the activity like before.
Preventions can also be taken if a person has low oxygen level like- soft tissue massage, dry needling (dry needling is a process in which a puncture in muscle or affected area is being made to release the tension so that some amount of relief can be provided) ice packs or heat pads and sprays are being applied. Drinking of electrolytes instead of only having water is also effective. As electrolytes provide instant energy as the body loses more ions and necessary compounds in the form of sweating during any physical activity. Hence, it is advised to take some number of necessary measures in order to avoid cramps.

Note:
A muscle cramp is an involuntary contraction of any muscle that occurs suddenly and does not relax. The sudden tightness and intense pain caused by a muscle locked in spasm. Cramps mostly affect the skeletal muscle. If the cramps are severe, it may be sore for days.
